I present to you a list of board games that, in my opinion, are perfect for a fun evening with family or friends. This selection is universal and will appeal to almost everyone!
1. Loonacy
Loonacy is a fun and fast-paced game that tests speed, reaction, and attention for up to five players. Be the first to get rid of all your cards, don’t get lost in the chaos, and claim victory!
An excellent game with incredibly simple rules – which is especially important to keep the excitement alive from the very start! The goal is to place cards from your hand onto the table, matching the images on at least one side. When we played, there was no shortage of emotions, loud shouts, and intense "duels." This game definitely deserves a place in your collection!
2. Exploding Kittens
This game offers a fast and dynamic gameplay experience where you must carefully weigh risks. It somewhat resembles Russian roulette – players take turns drawing cards from the deck, and if they pull an Exploding Kitten, they immediately "explode" and are eliminated from the game! However, various cards and combinations can be used to avoid this fate.
This game is slightly more complex than the previous one and not as fast-paced, but that’s what makes it special. The real fun here isn’t speed but strategy and the ability to outsmart your opponents. The best part? The chance to cleverly trick a friend, which adds an extra level of satisfaction and unexpected twists to every match. If you enjoy a competitive spirit with a touch of friendly betrayal, this game is for you! Just like the previous game, this one is a must-have in your collection!
3. The Thing
In the game *The Thing: Stay Away*, players take on the roles of a rescue team sent to investigate the disappearance of an archaeological expedition on the risen-from-the-ocean island of R’lyeh. From the very first turn, one of the players unknowingly transforms into *The Thing*—a mysterious creature capable of taking over human bodies and replacing them. The rescuers’ goal is to identify *The Thing* and destroy it using a *Flamethrower* card. Meanwhile, *The Thing* tries to either eliminate all humans or infect them. Players take turns making their moves.
For me, this is one of the most emotional and thrilling board games, while also feeling fresh and unique. Its concept is reminiscent of classic *Mafia*, but with exciting and bold rule modifications that make the gameplay even more engaging. Yes, the rules are slightly more complex than in traditional social deduction games, but trust me – they are completely worth it! The tense atmosphere, constant suspicion, and unexpected twists make every session unforgettable.
And of course, this is another game that your collection simply wouldn’t be complete without!
4. The Crew (PL: Załoga)
In this cooperative logical card game, your team will have to complete 50 different missions. Success can only be achieved through teamwork. Communication plays a crucial role—but in deep space, everything is much more challenging than it seems…
This game stands out from the rest and almost accidentally made its way into the top 3(4). However, if your group enjoys intellectual challenges and doesn’t find them “overwhelming,” this is a great choice! The large variety of missions ensures that the game doesn’t become repetitive too quickly. But be warned—playing under the influence of alcohol is *definitely* not recommended, as the challenges become exponentially harder! 🤡
